After giving birth women can experience a sense of disappointment, anger or anxiety. This may be you. Despite your best efforts, your birth, pregnancy or motherhood did not turn out the way you thought it would be. You may even feel fear, helplessness or horror about your experience and as consequence suffer from recurrent negative thoughts, overwhelming memories and unexpected flashbacks. You may be angry, feel alone or be disappointed in the people who were there to support you during pregnancy and labor, who were not able to be able to protect you. When you try to talk about your experience, others may not know how to hold space for you or support you. Not having been able to talk about these experiences might have added to those negative feelings. Maybe now is the time to get that help and talk to someone who can validate your feelings and help you integrate your experience in order to move forward in your life.
I am a midwife with twenty years of experience. I've had the privilege of supporting women through their pregnancy, delivery and post-partum period. I've witnessed joyful and beautiful moments, but also seen women who struggled with the experience of giving birth and the advertised "high" they thought this experience would bring. Let me help you heal your grief and shift these negative feelings into peace and acceptance.
